I have ET36 9"x17 front wheels.

There's about 0.5mm gap between the vertical strut and the inner wheel.

On turning the wheel hits this strut.

I have not fitted the uprated suspension yet.

My question is this:-

1. Is the vertical strut the wheels are rubbing against the damper?

2. Are uprated damper struts thinner in diameter?

3. The lower I go with the car, will the strut and wheel rub worse?

Many thanks for info. in advance.

Hmmm,
if is is rubbing on the vertical part then no suspension changes will help, you will need a spacer on the front or change your wheels.

no,the vertical part is not part of the damper.

Im not sure if there are any thinner struts avaliable.

9" is big on the front, what size rubber are you running?

it's the actual rim rubbing, not the tire.

Sounds like I need 3-5mm spacer.

If it hits the OEM shocks, the chances are you it will hit any aftermarket/sport shocks.

When you lower it, it will likely get worse.

9" for the front is too wide. If you put spacer, it will clear the shock, but then the wheel/tire will rub your fender.

the max for the front should be 8.5 width
