View Full Version : Climate Control?!?!?

I just got my 96 Benz C-280 and was wondering how hard was it to swap in a newer style climate control. Like a 98-99. Would it just be plug and play or would there need to be rewiring to be done. And has anyone done this? Any help would be great!!!

BTW: I am in LOVE with this site, I did'nt think there was so much aftermarket support for these cars. THANKS in advance.

hmmm....something isnt correct. Either you have a 1995 with that ancient climate system, or you are confused about the dial system that the 99-00 C230K has. From 96-00, all C280's had the same system, and from 96-98, the C230's had that system as well.

(1994-1995 C220/C280)

Yeah it's the top one(94-95 C-280), is there any way to convert it to the one below that one (96-00 C-280). And if so has anyone done it, and how hard is it. Thanks for all the help guys.

yea it has been done, by a guy on here, i read about it not long ago, cant remember the name off the top of my head, but the general concensious is that is was -far- too much work for the result

what are all those little drawers under the stereo in the center pic? i have the cell phone controls there.. which of course dont work.

some w202's come with a trip computer there...ne idea if we can add this and is it hard to install ??

It is a great place to put your climate control after you install a COMAND unit. ;->

I replaced mine with a cubby hole that holds my Sub Control knob

I want to do the comand unit but then what would I do for the climate control?? Please I need some help. I would still need to upgrade to the newer climate control. Thanks for all the help guys,
