Anyone have documentation on
how to replace the belt on a 97 C230?

I want to replace mine now and kind of
apprehensive to do it.

thanks in advance

accessory belt or timing belt?

for accessory belt,

draw a diagram of the pulleys and the way the belt circulates between them.

then fit a socket or combination wrench on the screw nub that stickes out of the belt tensioner. Use your owners manual to tell which one is the belt tensioner.
And I think the screw nub takes a 7mm socket - but I may (might) be wrong.
WIth the socket attached shift the socket handle to the left. moving the whole belt tensioner to the left.

That will release the old belt. Release belt tensioner

I'd take a DRY rag and wipe clean all the pulley surfaces, don't use any belt dressing or wax.

Place the old belt partially on, pull tensioner to left again and finish off routing belt.

Keep old belt as a spare in trunk.

it's the accessory belt.

Thanks a lot. I'll try it this weekend.
