Check Engine Light

ahh the infamous check engine light is on........i thought my car would be decently reliable *knock on wood*

Alright heres the story, im driving when the light for "low gas" starts flashing like crazy so im like "wtf" and i pull over, turn the car off, wait a minute and turn it back on. Everything is normal!

so i continue to drive when the thing starts flashing and this time the check engine light comes on! so now i start freaking out(being that im a freshi in college and i dont have much cash to fix the problem) and i find a place and i park. now the CEL light is on.... and i dont know what to think. i dont have a code reader either:( :( :(

Alright i got the bad boy scanned and you guys were right on the dot. the codes that i am getting are

P0455

EVAP Emission Control System Leak(large)

Any idea of what these problems are and how to fix them?
BTw i still get the flashing reserve fuel light and CEL Light.

autozone/advance can read your codes for free. might be a light related to fuel system pressure if you ran outa gas.

possible emission system defect/failure. my bet would be the gas tank pressure sensor. get a scanner from a local parts shop and get it scanned.

Tighten your gas cap, the only time the reserve fuel light flashes if there is a major leak in the evap system (P0455), which is usually because the gas cap is not on tight. If it is loose, don't worry about clearing it, just tighten the cap and light light will go off after a few drive cycles.
