I emailed Topline Automobile about the WALD kit for the W202. I got a response that it would cost $1604.80 for whole kit w/ fogs.

Do you guys thinks its too much? or sounds about right price?

I just wanted to get an idea how much it would cost and since Topline is only 10mins away from here, and I read post of you guys going to Topline for auto work, I thought i would go there in the future to get my car done w/ some body work.

that price does not seem too bad for an entire bk, thinking that paint and install will cost maybe 400 more, that's not too bad, I'd buy a lorinser kit if I could get it for that price.

i paid $1600 for the kit and it was shipped from osaka to oakland to seattle. no fogs. paint/install for the whole kit/car would be around $3K - it's custom :)

$400 for paint and install is a pretty low estimate, unless you do it yourself, because just paint supplies will be more than $400.

I emailed them for an estimate of install and paint, they quoted $1400. So $1,604.80 + $1,400 = $3,004.80... Sounds pricey but from what you all said its worth it?

Abuimad
10-30-2005, 03:27 PM
well if you got the money laying around, then hell yeah its worth it, the kit looks ausome and it would make your car one of a kind, what colour are you gonna spray your car ?

My dad is going to pay for it. He parked it at work and when he came out the hood, grill, and front bumper was messed up. And my car is black. I keep telling him to bring it to the shop but he doesn't want to, yet. But he's giving in on the WALD Kit though. Hehe:D

The wald kit is nice, but not as nice as Brabus or the C36. I prefer clean cut lines over the roundness of the wald.

But that is a deal for $1600. Cheapest Authentic W202 kit I've seen new! makes sure that price includes shipping.

It got dinged! Hood got a pop up dent and where the hood meets the grill on the right side, it has a dent(paint came off), Grill(the silver lining) is popping off.. and front bumper got a big o scratch thats pretty deep in and license plate got messed up.. Sorry hard to describe.. Can I use your sig. as a example? Ill circle where the dmgs are.

Wald or Brabus are sick. Rieger just looks too RICEY, but don't know yet. Any one knows if Brabus still makes the kits? I saw a group buy not to long ago, but I think that is already over.

Never say never.... I might have located and found the full Brabus kit for my car front and rear, brand new. If my contact in Germany goes through, I will soon be sporting a Brabus kit to go along with my new wheels. When I switch kits, my Wald kit will be forsale. :D

Brabus

Wald is a good kit. And right now still relatively rare... But try going for a mix and flavor of something you like. Personally the wald rear is weak to me...

Abuimad
11-01-2005, 11:25 AM
well i was thinking along the same lines..in my case if u look at the car from the side profile shot..u can see that the rear bumper is kinda high...most kits i saw the front bumper is along the same line as the sideskirt and the rear bumper...in this case..the side skirt is much lower than the other 2..allthat said in my eyes this kis is just beutifull, and there is no"perfect" kit...much better than the other kits available...also IMHO

The rear WALD bumper looks similar to the C36 bumper, just a little curvy. Well, IMO, the whole WALD kit looks like the C36 bumpers. <Alternative to the OEM which cost probably double the price of WALD;)

Yes, this seems to be the cheapest place to get a Wald kit that I have seen so far. 840 is listed on their website and after calling they said 280 for shipping, so 1120 plus tax and it's yours. Yes, paint and install will be extra. The person I spoke with, David, seemed very interested and mentioned various additional w202 parts including headlights, tails, etc.

For payment he said 50 percent deposit. Then it would take approx. two weeks to make the kit and about a month and a half to have it shipped over. So about two months once you place your order.

While this is a cheaper place to purchase the kit, I don't think anyone has done prior business with them that can vouch. Also, I know people have good experience with other shops. I am considereing this shop as it is the cheapest by far for a new complete NON-Replica Wald kit, but would still have to find a shop for paint and install.

Does anyone have any recommendations for shops that would just do paint and install, and if so where are they located and how much would this kit cost?

The kit from Topline was listed in the first post. They will also paint and install. But if you want to get it painted and install, there is this place where my friend got his BMW fixed in SF. It's called Unique Automotives @ 240 6th Street, San Francisco CA 94103. P:415-861-2828 But their called Bee's Automotives now..

That is true mostly, but then you have to consider shipping. Plus shops here will mark up the kit or say that shipping is more expensive to make it look like it is more expensive. We all know that every shop wants to make money, it's just a matter of how much they will mark it up when they sell it to you.

add shipping to the base price as stated above and condsider the shop selling the kit at a loss. if it dont make dollars, it dont make sense.
