I got the car in June, I live outside of boston, but the car was in NJ before...so tons of salt. No wonder my car is covered in rust as well

well i've been using Heritage Motors/Hatch and Sons (name change I think) in Wayland/Sudbury. I found out that they are now owned by Foreign Motors West....so I suppose they no longer count as indie.
I have had good experiences with them. Although when I told them I didn't really care about that spring they were like "ok".

So can somebody tell me if it will be easy enough for me to change these myself with one of those cheap clamp-like compressors.....the shock isnt even inside the spring so it cant be too hard....:Ponder:

Using the non-specific clamp type compressor is not a good idea. There are two acceptable ways to change out the spring:
1. Use the Klann/MB spring compressor on the fronts if you have it available
2. Don't use a spring compressor at all (you can search the forum for the tutorial on this)
Just as a side note, there was one member in the past who used a honda-type spring compressor on his w202. The compressor ended up getting stuck in the spring, and it was quite a bitch to fix.
