Actually, this statement isn't true in any way. First, HID lights draw between 22W-31W depending on the manufacturer. Standard Halogen Headlights will draw between 55W - 61W depending on manufacturer. They are much less of a drain than standard headlight bulbs. Secondly the Color Temperature of the bulb (7000K vs. 6000K) is just what color the light will be, they draw the same power. Anything over about 4800K - 6000K you actually will lose light (but gain color) The higher the Color Temperature (the K rating of the kit) the less useable/visible light is actually being produced.

Oh, and thanks for blinding me too:p

No problem, glad I could enlighten someone. I actually started doing research because I wanted to put HID headlights in my old Lexus. Figured the higher K rating was better, but after reading about a million articles, talking to numerous people, I came to the conclusion that was wrong. The best kit is 4800K, but they are expensive and hard to find. 6000K is still really good, and far less expensive.

Oh, and thanks for the welcome to the site. I only just got the car (1999 C280 Sport, black on black) I will post some pictures when it comes back from the tinters. But in a different thread, dont want to hijack this one.

Most OEM application by Hella, Bosch or ZKW use 4300K.
