I have 95 c280.
I just bought an used set of Carlsson 1/6 evo 18" wheels.
I don't really know about its specs except that it's 8.5" wide
It has 235/40/zr18 tires.

I went to a shop to mount them on but found out that the tires touch the bolt for suspension spring. The guy said I need a spacer about 5mm.

I just wanted to make sure if it will work and any other recommendations on which brand to get and shoud I get all 5mm for 4 tires?

I thank you guys in advance.

front or rear?

wats a bolt for the spring?

is car lowered?

are wheels still mounted?

if not please check rear of wheel tell us wat the ET is.

most likely u will need 225/40/18 if its for front.

I really can't describe the part very well but it's kinda hooked outward and there is a nut at the end.

My car is not lowered at all.

I can't even mount them. It's not like rubbing. It completely touched the part so if I tried to drive like that, it will ripped the tire immediately.

I'll try to get the ET as soon as I can and update this page.

They only tried the front right tire and assumed that it will be the case with all of them.

the offset for those 1/6's might be ET 32mm...i almost bought a set awhile back and the guy had to use some 5 mm carlsson spacers in order for them to fit on his w202

heyhey thats what happened to me when i mounted my 18's with 8.5in wide...its the bolt that touches on the inside of the tire...but eliminated the prob by adding 5mm spacers in the front!

so that brings the wheels to a 27mm offset...which is not recommended for fronts

I dont know why people I talk to keep saying that 18's will fit no problem on a stock w202. That's why I was always hesitant to buy 18's.
I am still sticking with buying 17 inch rims.

would it be cheaper and less hassel to just change the tire instead of putting spacers?

Isn't the difference between 225 and 235 just a thickness of the tire? The strut bolt touches the tire's side. Is that going to still solve the problem?

its how wide the tire is, so its 10mm thinner.

edit: and diameter is different

1 inch = 25.4 mm

225 / 25.4 = 8.85 inch wide

235 / 25.4 = 9.25 inch wide

225/40/18 = 40 % of 225 = 90 sidewall height in mm
90 / 25.4 = 3.54 sidewall height in inch
3.54 + 18 = 21.54 inch = total diameter of wheel

235/40/18 = 40% of 235 = 94
94 / 25.4 = 3.700
3.700 + 18 = 21.700

Wow I just checked the price on my tires.
I have kumho ecsta 235/40/zr18 and they cost $500.
I guess I'll go with 5mm spacer for just front tires.

tirerack.com sell cum-ho tires for $84 each.
225/40/18

or a better tire at www.tires.com

falken st115 $113 per tire

if you lower your car, you will get alot of rubbing with that 5mm spacer and 235's

Car shop guy told me that I should buy H&R 10mm spacers and he will put it on for $55 for the labor.

Will 10mm fit without tires rubbing fenders?

I live near chicago and the price was just approximation.
I don't if ZR rating makes difference in price but on ebay these tires are sold for like $100 / tire.

If I could sell these tires, then I want to get a new set of tires.

i owuldnt pay 55 for some one to put wheels on my car. i can do it myself. whenyou get spacers u will need to get new longer bolts, 10mm is too much for the front. will look like low rider

I've tried and found out that 5mm spacer will not work with these tires. It's too close to the bolt and even touches the metal frame.

This one is with 10mm spacer.
I have to order 10mm spacer and used the 5mm that I bought for the rear wheels.

I have one more question. I put my finger between the rim and the metal frame and spun the rim. I noticed that the space is not constant. It gets closer at some point of the spin. Is it because I did it while the car is up in the air. I currently have stock rims and have no vibration. Or are my new rims not perfect? I think the maximum difference is about 2-3 mm just enough to squeeze my finger.

There is no doubt that those are et 40.

The 5mm spacer doesn't appear to be a problem to me.

try switching tires in front to 225...might be your best bet

The problem is the rim touches the frame.
Thus, even if I change the tires to 225, it's not going to fix the problem of rims touching.

The offset is 35mm for sure because it's written on the back of the rim.

Is there such thing as thicker rotor to add about 5mm thickness?

if you et is 35 with 225 tires you should not rub.

if you got et 40 you need a 5mm spacer to make it et35.

on my car i have 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear et40. i am running 225/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear only rubs on turns and while in reverse and i am lowered on H&R.

I bought some 5mm spacers to make et35 now no rub at all, in the front that is, rear is another story.

I used to have carlsson 18 that were ET of 39. but let me check on that . They were 18x8.5 all around with 235/40/18 it rubbed while turning.

Im not sure what is going on with your car you need to find out the ET on the wheel for sure

I'm 1000% sure. I could even take a picture of the wheel saying ET35. I don't know what's going on with my car.
Is 95 model little different from other c280's?
Well, I have to replace rotors anyway so I'll look into different rotors to see if such thing as thicker rotor exists. Or I'll have to get 10mm spacers.
