Tommorow my C230K goes in for its first transmission fluid change @ 83 000kms to the MB dealer.

Just want opinions on how their transmissions acted after the fluid changes.

Right now mine is a bit rougher for some reason with the new MAS sensor.

That's interesting, my dealer told me they don't do fluid changes on sealed transmissions - even though I wanted one.

Mine wouldnt downshift properly....id be pressing full throttle or even the kickdown switch....and sometimes it would downshift and sometimes it just wouldnt. It was very irresponsive. All that went away with gear fluid/filter change.

Sounds good. How should it be driven after the change?

Newmarket. They told me there was no tranny service. I'm up to 134,000 km's. Please post the cost and whether or not it solves your problem.

I drove it completely normal...I dont know if you're supposed to take any precaution other than driving gently for a first few miles.

BTW, i got my filter and fluid changed for less than 50 dollars...good indy mechanic...but its that cheap because labor here in Mid East is ridiculously low. Just giving info.

I did not experience any behavior changes in shifting before and after transmission fluid change.

If anything ie. rough shifting etc -- have them recheck the fluid level. Low fluid level will do that to transmission.

Also did you replace the transmission fluid and MAF at the same time. If you did, I would try to put the old MAF back (just some process elimination you could do, to make sure which one causing the rough shifting) ;)

52K miles seems early to change tranny fluid. ( do you have the 722.6?) Every Mercedes mechanic I've talked to says aroung 100K miles (162000 kms).
But then again, peace of mind for $200's not bad.
I have 83K miles and will be haveing my tranny fluid change in a couple of K's.
US cost is $200 with fluid and filter, everything.
Report on how it turns out.

Tranny fluid done today...total is $501 CDN...most of it goes to labour.

Fault of torque converter lock-up found and was stored but said its nothing major and could have happened once a long time ago. Fluid was good coming out and extra good going in.

In the end...much smoother shifts and power delivery.

Not a waste if you end up doing it.

I got mine done for free!:D I went in and complained about rough shifting and they pulled the codes on it and replaced the TCU. I looked later on at the bill and there was a charge (not to me cause the car's under CPO warranty) for 7 quarts of transmission fluid. YAY!:D
