View Full Version : Dead Heater...?

Searched, found nothing.

Last night, it was 20 degrees outside. I'm going for a short drive, and my car is a block of ice (windows frosted inside and out...leaky sunroof). Entire car was frozen up. Anyways, I get in, crank it, and hit the defrost buttons. Rear window defrosts, but the front one never does. I let the car sit there idling and warm up COMPLETELY (to 80C) and the vents never once blew warm or hot air. The air stayed 20F the whole time. I restarted the car, the ACC, restarted everything multiple times thinking maybe it just needed a "reboot." Never got warm. Ended up having to use luke-warm water to thaw out the windshield. In the search, I never found anyone else having no heat in their car. Am I the first?

Plus, it got vandalized the other night. Someone ripped off my front star and kicked a little chip off my grille. Yay. Now there's 3 seperate issues my insurance company refuses to cover (windshield, hood ornament, and grille).

Could be the duo-valve being stuck. It's on the passenger side in that covered area where all the computers are. They look like side-by-side D batteries.. give them a light but firm tap with something solid and see if it works then.

is there any air coming out of the top vents? if not, then you are looking at a stuck flap or a leaking actuator. if there is air, then as boomingbenz said, it might be the duo valve, and tapping it might help.

Well, it's working now. But yes, there was air coming from the top vents.
