View Full Version : Help, Erratic Idle on C280

Probably has nothing to do with it, but after changing all the fluids yesterday I noticed it has a slightly erratic idle, and stalled a couple of times at lights. Thought it must have been MAS, but replaced that this morning, and it is still there, only seems to do it after coming to a standstill from moving, ar when car is first started up, it bounces from 500 to about 1000 rpm.

Help would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers
Tom

Most likely it could be the electronic throttle body, or the harness connected to it. my C36 does it from time to time, but until it fails completely I will not change it. do a search on the topic, and you will find more info that will help you narrow it down.

YUPERZ!!!!

I had the same problem before, there was a vacuum leak in the area where the ECU is, all i had to do is plug it back in - it slipped off of the connector.

made a hissing sound.

Where exactly was it slipped off? Where's the ECU?

I'm hoping that's what's wrong with mine too, heh. But I seriously doubt it.

There's a vacuum hose that goes right passed the Oil Filter cap. Make sure that it is connected to the nipple on the intake manifold. I believe that is the same vacuum hose that runs to the transmission cable's vacuum element

ok, when you open the hood you see the black cover in front close to the cooling fans ? open that cover and it has connections over there - i had to get that connector thing replaced before because over time it dries up and breaks.

ok, the ECU - when you open your hood, look to your top left - all the way in the corner,

there is a three-point connector, ive had to change that one also.
