lol

My mom once flew through a flock of small birds in her old 300e. I got underneath and picked out all the birds/guts I could find. Still didn't stop it from smelling like a dead animal a few weeks later. That smell hung around for at least a year.

that's some intense hitting. i will keep that in mind and steer away from any birds.

I once hit a 5-10 pound pheasant while doing about 190km/h on a country road in a rental car.

Although there was no blood, I had solid feathers packed around the headlight.

If you ever needed evidence of the quality of German engineering, the hood star picture should answer any questions. How much energy was absorbed by the bird hitting the star? Yet the star itself still looks intact inside the circle, and the entire hood ornament is still attached to the hood.

Do you think that 50 years ago, when designing the hood ornament, the team of engineers considered this possibility and engineered for bird strike? Realistically I doubt it....but then again, when you look at how these cars used to be engineered, it might be possible.
