So I have a C280 sport that is running on the stock 15" AMG wheels with 205/60/15 tires.

I dont like the thick sidweall height these tires have and am wondering if 195/65/15 tires will work on my existing wheels, and if this change will affect speedometer accuracy.

...speedo reading with the 2nd tire set will be 1.2% too slow... but further, dude, the 2nd set you cite has a .2 inches larger sidewall!

What you need is the great "Tire Size Calculator" found all over on the Internet...

Enter your current tire dimensions and new tire dimensions for a detailed report on size difference (you cas see the tire width difference too by clicking "end" instead of the default "side") :

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

that requires Java ... this one doesn't:

...bookmark it/them.

Hmm, my stock tires were 195/65/15, was this different for the sport models? For wider, but still 15" wheels maybe?

If you get tires with smaller sidewalls your speedometer will be effected, depending on the difference in overall diameter of the tire. If the diameter changes by 5%, the speedo reading will change by 5% (if i'm thinking right that is). Obviously the width has no effect on the speedo accuracy though.

Also, I'd think smaller sidewalls would look funny, the gap between the tire and the wheel well would look worse than the huge sidewall IMO.

BTW, I've been using that tire size calculator for years, great tool.

Stock tire size on mine is 195/65/15 also. I once put a set of 205/65/15's on there and they looked like balloons. Did not like them at ALL.

well if you get wider tires, u need to get less sidewall..

205/55/15 would be cool tho

this tire will give u wider and a lower profile, though I would not recomend less then a 55 series sidewall..

and.. I would lower your car if you went with this type of tire.. or else it will look lifted..

Thanks for all the responses guys. I guess a more direct question is wether the tires will swap... I have a set of the 195/65/15 tires from a friends C280 when he upgraded his wheels. He just gave them to me being my neighbor, and the fact that he moved and didnt want to hassle with selling them.

so will 195/65/15 tires fit my 15" wheels that are running 205/60/15"s

Thanks guys!

Vbrock1137- You have a really SHARP 202!!! Im not a huge fan of body kits on W202's, I like the clean lines that it left the factory with. I do like upgraded wheels on 202's though, not ricey cheese ones, but tasteful ones like yours. And I love the grille!
Nice job!
