I'm at a loss for this one, so I hope the experts here can offer some insight.

The head unit in my car is not producing any sound. It is the standard MB Head Unit with Bose speakers. Whether it's on CD/Radio/Phone/Tape, all the functionality of each source works, but no sound comes out of the speakers.

Here's the common thread:

3 years ago (Summer 2002) I took the car to have a tint installed. When I got the car back from the tint shop, the head unit produced no sound. I fussed and argued with the tint shop that someone screwed it up, but they claimed they never touched the radio, or even removed power from the vehicle. I took the car to a high end car stereo shop, and they thought it might be a blown fuse. They pulled the head unit, checked the fuse (it was fine) and then re-seated the radio. Just by doing that - POOF the radio worked again. I never thought about it again.

6 months after having the tint put on, I was flagged by local authorities for the tint being too dark. I had to have the tint removed so I went back to the tint shop and had them remove it. The head unit still worked fine, all functions worked and I had sound.

2 weeks ago (December 2005), I went back to the tint shop to have them put the tint back on. And sure enough, when I got the car back, the head unit produced no sound. Once again, I went to the high end car stereo shop and they pulled and checked the head unit and found nothing, only this time - the sound did not return.

My theory is that maybe the speakers got "wet" from the glue that the tint shop uses, or maybe some moisture seeped into the window wells. Not the best theory, but anybody have another other ideas?

Go to a shop that fixes radios. Usually the head unit has some problems and it's nobody's fault. Electronics do go bad or just brake sometimes. I worked at a shop where they fixed radios and I saw a couple of mercedes come in and we usually fixed them for about 150 to 250 depending on what needed to be replaced. If you take it out yourself it is sometimes cheaper. If the place offers warranty they are usually trust worthy, if not go some where else.

Dead-amp...dead-amp...dead-amp, dead-amp, dead-amp

The BOSE amplifier was dead. I found a use done on Ebay, and the sound has returned
