going to get an estimate today, and just wanted to see what some comparable prices people were quoted/charged. also what percentage? I'm thinking 20% all around (not EXACTLY legal), but my friends have told me to go as low as 15 for the fronts and 5 for the rears. I figure tint is going to look a lot darker on a white car.

I have 15% on all side and rear windows and 35% on the windsheild. I dont think you should go 5% its pretty hard to see at night.
mine cost 300 for the sides and rear and 140 for the windshield

approx 600USD for 30% COATING (no film but a liquid on the inside of the glass) in BLUE all around (rear, sides and front) of the 202.
Getting the factory tinted windows (privacy glass) on my 203 station has cost me even more then that...

Its on my w203,
nothing special about the blue tint - you can barely see it!
but I really like the rear sunshade, doesnt look hard to put in on a 202. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/7/web/2179000-2179999/2179797_30_full.jpg

Hey all I can add to this post is make sure they use color stable tint, it's the newest breakthrough in window tint. Your tint will never turn purple as long as you own the car. I use Llumar.
Don't just shop price. The quality shops are going to charge a little more than all the rest. They will most likely be putting the felt
strips on the door panel molding for you and tinting all the way to the top edge of you door glass. The one area where it's OK to spend a little more $$ is tint. Trust me, I've been tinting cars
for 22 years now. Any other questions? e-mail me at

never heard of that .... but just ask yourself - how long are you going to keep the car ? that should answer your question.

I have Madico on our Accord. It's a very nice tint. I got 38% on all side and rear windows. And the guy who did the Accord put felt strips for the windows, too.
I am going back to him to have the 280 re-tinted. The Accord cost me $225. It may end up more with the Benz because he has to peel the old tint off, and put a new film.
I've heard of Llumar, and a lot of people use that. This tint guy I went to uses both Llumar, and Madico, and he said Madico is better.

Tinter does a very nice job, thats where mine was done.

Madico is not color stable unless there is something new.
It's made with old technology. Llumar is the best and that's why
it's the only film I sell. You can go to www.tintdude.com and ask
window tinters from all around the country questions. Also you
can find a quality shop in your area.

i have 15% on all the doors front and rear as well as the back window. 5% on the sunroof and 52% on the entire front winshield. so far i have never even been stopped by a cop and ive had them for 3 year now. i paid $320 for everything but that including tip cuz my friends shop did them. he only charged me $280. he also put felt tape in all the doors for no charge which can get pricey depending on teh shop u chose and i have lifetime warrenty not to metion.
K_sport I am not sure who you called in Bloomington for a quote but I own a shop that does tint in Bloomington. We use Johnson film which is metalized so it will never fade and has a lifetime warranty. On a 4 door car I would quote $185 unless you want the entire winsheild done too then I would say $245 total. If you do anything darker than 15% it gets real hard to see out at night. If you do the windsheild then I would definately not do it that dark. If you need more info just give me a call at Landmark Mobile Customs Audio/Video- 812-330-9343. Oh I am Shane We are open M-F 9-6 and Sat 10-3.

I went to the best tinting place i could find in my area because i have had problems in the past with cheap tint and cheap tint jobs. It wasnt cheap but it is the cleanest job i have ever seen on any car.
I had it done at a place called Accutint which specializes in tinting and clear bras.
I had 5% put on all the windows a while ago and it cost me about $350. I just recently had the windshield done at 35% and it cost me $150. So although it was a bit pricey at a total of $500 i believe it was well worth it. I dont cut corners when it comes to tinting.
