Ive been doing crazy things with my 202 ... me and my friend did a small show-off to see whos car will smoke up the street more,

So im sitting there holding the brake and nearly flooring the car at the same time ... not much noise because of my old tires are very hard compound, smokes as usual .... but when I came out to see the marks I left - I only noticed one of my wheels was spinning through.

why is that ? am I holding the brake too hard ?

Of coarse my friends GS-300 was alot louder with soft fresh tires, but I held mine alot longer because I need new rear tires anyway so I had lot more smoke.

But I just get one wheel spinning through.

help me out. thanks!

non-AMG 202's (and some AMG models if I remember properly?) don't run a rear limited slip. You get a lovely open diff, which means it "Transfers power automatically from the wheels that grip, to the wheels that slip!". Path of least resistance and what-have you. Shea, not much of a smoke show our cars put on, but then again, with these transmissions, why would you want to >.>

its easy, hold your brake and press the gas - the car sorta lifts up but cant go anywhere because you locked the front brakes!

when I say hold your brake I mean foot brake not E-brake!

our 202 can smoke alot, but that depends on your tires. my tires just crumble because they are crap.

ok I see that you have the same problem - only one wheel burning!

tomorrow I have another test for my 202, this is the deal ...

when my friend burned out his GS300 he also had one wheel burning, so he didnt hold the brake as hard and when he tried it agian he had both rear wheels burning but the car was slowly inching forward.

I will try to see if my 202 is capable of doing the same, and if it works out as planned - Ill get a video! HeeHee :D

only one wheel burns becuase we dont have LSDs. you cant have and LSD with traction control

the last 2 burnouts i have done both rear wheels have smoked up with an open diff, and that was from a roll back, left nice black marks too. i guess i was just lucky

In the above pic, nokia's car also doesn't have ASR. I know he tried to burn out both wheels, but could not. Not to say this is good for our cars, but someonebody should post a tutorial to get both wheels smoking if possible :p

im going from a "still" burnout, I have an idea but just dont have a chance to try it out.

but ill be sure to record whatever I get out of it.

well...if you want to burn out both wheels i suggest you add some power to the mix (put some water under the rear wheels..and then attempt the burout..maybe put some veery lil oil or something)

is it possible to add lsd to our cars? maybe change the whole differential?

yea I usually try these things in the rain because its not as loud as it is when its dry and a little bit less wear on the tires since they just glide.

Well, you could always weld the diff

There's some aftermarket fitment for our cars as far as LSDs are concerned... but unless you're driving a nicely done C43 I wouldn't count on being able to break both wheels loose without some extensive nastyness on your transmission.

The five-speed is so expensive to replace, I get scared just hitting the gas every day. Especially since it's a '97 ><

do you guys know where I can find good pictures of a non-LSD and a LSD ? I would like to se the differance visually rather then just reading about it.

honestly never seen what it looks like on a 202 and no way im gonna open that up without a lift - I still have backpains from taking off the exhaust a few weeks ago.
