temp and tach acting weird!!

anyone knows about this? i have 95 c280, suddenly my temperature gauge is not working.. after a few minutes my tach is not working also! sometimes it works sometimes dont. help!!!??!!?thanks!

This happened on my friend's 94 C220. Turn the car on and the rpm and speedometer are dead...then while driving they would shoot up.

hmmm,possibly either ECU or wiring harness related.
have you checked the engine harness for damage?

Bad ground, if you don't have a ground to complete the circuit, all goes. I can't tell you where the grounding problem may be, but it should be the first suspected. Clean contacts, check connections.

good point!...check the grounding on the engine...as i think most of the sensors use ground return

my guess, corroded contacts at the back of the instrument cluster.
