Wheel/tire - Suspension ????

I am a 190e guy still, but in the spring will be looking at a mid-late 90's C280 I think. I see most people when running a 225/45/17 or 225/40/18 are able to lower their car with H&R or Eibach kits and #1 pads generally with no problems.

My question is, would I be able to run a 225/45/18 front & rear and to lower it just go to #1 pads (stock springs)...anyone done this or have pics? I guess I need to know are 225/45/18's just to big??? How much gap would i have between tire & fender?

I am hoping to get a lowered look without springs, I like a little more meat on the rim (for safety), and I ride with some pretty big guys, my last lowered 190e (eibach w/ 205/50/16 would rub too much)

Anyone deal with thewheelexchange.com before ??? Prices look pretty good.

You can run 225/45/18. My old W202 was slammed and had those size wheels in front (and even slightly larger in rear).

I dont know if #1 pads by themselves with stock springs will offer a sportier ride, or how much of a lowered look it will provide. But I can assure you that you will be able to run that tire size. Again, my car ran that size and had #1 pads as well as H&R springs...

I've got 225/45/18 up front and 255/40/18 out back. ET35 offset and 8.5" wide Brabus, no problems.

The fronts have rubbed maybe 5 or 6 times when pulling into a parking lot or whatever with a sloped entrance too fast, but that's just 'cause I drive too fast.:D :D :D

Mine's lowered on Vogtlands w/#3 or 4 pads up front and double stacked #4 or 5 pads out back(can't remember the specifics).

I can't really recommend Vogtland b/c they dropped my rear too much (hence the double stacked pads), but the tire sizes I mentioned are far from extreme for our cars. The pics I've included show the drop from my setup, etc.

looks very nice....i suppose 22/45/18 all around with H&R or Eibach would be better? Re-use whatever stock pads are in it probably ??

You can run 225/45/18s, but it will throw off your speedometer by about 3.5%.

If you plan to dump it on H&Rs with #1 pads it may rub because the overall diameter is bigger. Lots of people get different results even with nearly same cars though, so you never know.

Yes, thats my old car. I should note that I had front fenders rolled. Rear fenders are already rolled from factory and I had 235/45/18 on the rears for a little more bite.
