Hello everyone,

I am seriously considering getting some type of Exhaust on my 1998 C43, Im looking to spend $200-$350. I like the sound of my stock AMG exhaust right now, but would like it to be a little "throatier" but do NOT want anything that resembles a rice rocket sound. So louder, but not annoying loud. Any suggestions would help. Thanks alot!!

eisenmann is quite throaty. supersprint and remus are a bit quieter that eisenmann, but still somewhat louder than stock under throttle.

a custom magnaflow system would be completely 100% free flowing and would still retain that high quality german sound and keep the car sounding high quality. You have almost unlimited choices with magnaflow based on the different exhaust muffler length, diameter, tips, etc etc. Check out my signature for the link to my project S32, i've tried alot of attempts at the custom exhaust thing and Magnaflow is definitely the way to go.

I had an Eisenmann - it was a little too loud and way overpriced (and outside your price range). Considering your budget, I think you should just leave the AMG exhaust on as anything in the 200-350 range would be a downgrade....

so what is the best exhaust you can get for any price? and sorry to thread jack, but does anyone know what the deal with high flow/race cats and cali emissions are? I am in the same boat and trying to find upgrades but am not sure how a muff and freeer flowing cats will affect emissions, would running 200 cell not pass? and how much louder does the car get when there is no res?

the muffler has nothing to do with emissions, but there are quite a few high flow cats out there that are carb legal. metal cat is probably the highest flowing and legal catalyst I came across. jcwhitney sells them.

I just purchased a full sound turbo exhaust cat-back for my 1999 c230k for 650 and its pretty sick. Magnaflow exhausts are a waste of money, you will lose power and torque in the long run..

Only before and after dynos can verify what may be best for your car.

As far as an axle-back exhaust, dont expect anything but nominal gains no matter how expensive or popular the exhaust is. One thing you should do is buy a straight through muffler instead of a baffled design.
