I want to know what the best priced diagnostic software or scanner there is for our cars. I have a PDA which I'd like to turn into one. I just can't justify spending 150 bux a scan. Though thier scanners are mighty nice :) thx in advance.

can grab an ODB-II code puller for $70 these days..
Vanilla, but gets the job done.
I use a sony Clie, uses a standard palm interface, hook up the little molex breakout box and the software pulls the codes.. Can also buy things like ECM tuners analysers for it. I think theres even a plam multimeter out there:confused:

just some days ago there's a thread about scan codes. at the end of the thread a member here is offering to sell his scanner, which i think he said was about $2000 new. i don't know much about these but it sounds like a nice one in terms of price. u might want to take a look and get more details on that.

Though thier scanners are mighty nice I think you might have glossed over and/or left out a few thoughts ... are you saying you'll only use this once so $150 for a PDA scanner isn't worth it to you even though you'd really like one (what can you get for $150 anyway), or did the $150 get mentioned because that's what someone charges you?

Look at AutoTap for the Palm (http://www.autotap.com/autotap_for_palm.html). I have AutoTap for the PC and it's pretty good.

i think he meant he doens't want to pay 150 a scan by the shop.

what you see is what you get, the cable it comes with works with many Jap. cars as far as I know and used it on my friends cars.

if you know about these Diagnostic scanners - they are the real-deal, not cheap imitation scanners. usually a new one like this would cost you about 2K as shown, mine comes with that cable, OTC SYSTEM SMART INSERT (shown) and 1993 DOMESTIC PATHFINDER which is plugged to the back of scanner (not seen in picture)

missing charger and all the accesories to it - thats just how I bought it used for $900, but then got a nice deal and snatched a brand new one w/all upgrades so i have no use for this one - just sits and collects dust.

when you plug this into your car - it will power feed itself off the cars' battery but if you want to turn it on w/o having it plugged to the car you will have to obtain a battery charger and charge it up to do so.

I know the question is "will it work with my W202" ? YESS it will but theres a differnt cable that you will need to buy either off ebay or a MAC Tools dealer, and another smart insert chip.

works well, if you want I can have it charged and take another picture of the scanner in its working form.

price: $500 + shipping $40 within U.S. -this thing is not exactly feather light ;) MUST SELL !!!
