Just found these on eBay, finally a projector headlight for the W202!
But i would like some more info on them, why do they only fit years 93-96 ?
it says:
PLEASE NOTE: FOR 1996(JULY)-2000 MODELS THE HEADLIGHTS TRIMS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACE TO FIT, THE TRIMS ARE $50.00 EXTRA, COMES IN GRAY WILL NEED TO BE PAINTED TO MATCH YOUR CAR'S COLOR.
Whats up with that ?
and it also says that: SELF-LEVELING MOTORS ARE NOT INCLUDED.
Well i would like to have these on the car, but im not sure if they are going to fit, they look like a clean projector housing, but im just a little worried, it does not say who makes them, and i cant seem to find any info on them, i tried to google it, but the only place i seem to find any info is on the e-bay Post.
Anyone else know anything about these lights ? They are going to look good with crystal clear corners, now all they have to make is a projector corner like the 5 Series.

Did you notice the headlights are not projector just the fog light!
Bummer.

I dont get it, there is enough demand for a projector headlight for the W202, why not make one, and why dont they make an aftermarket one peice headlight like the Audi, that includes the corner.

the fog light is the smaller light below the non-projector lamp. the fog light isn't the projector, but that's where the high beam usually is.
jnolte
02-22-2006, 05:51 PM
so the high beam is now the projector? or did they switch the correlation of the lights around? Projector is the low beam and non projector is the high beam?

This fuckin sucks! I would have bought these light in a heart beat! and that the way that I would have done the projector lights. The projector being on the inside of the light. I might buy them later on. lol

"THESE HEADLIGHTS USES H4 FOR BOTH HIGH AND LOW BEAMS, H3 FOR FOG LAMPS, PLUG AND PLAY CONNECTORS FOR EASY INSTALLATION. SELF-LEVELING MOTORS ARE NOT INCLUDED"
H4 is a low/high combo bulb. Thats the outer light
H3 is a single bulb. the fog IS the projector.

someone needs to find out who makes these, and i would like to request a real projector headlight for the W202 from them... I have waited long enough for someone to make a projector housing for the W202, its bull, practically any car you name has a projector housing except for the W202.

then what is the little H3 bulb below the H4 non-projector bulb? the quote can mean they have separate H4 bulbs for both the projector and standard lamp. there are THREE bulbs in that light. look at it.

You guys have some good eyes, thats right, the guy emailed me back and said that the h4 is a high low combo bulb and it is not the one in the projector, the projector IS the fog light, and you will have normal low and high beams, the third bulb under the H4 is called a city light, all it does is light up the housing when you dont want to have your lights on, i got excited too...this sucks :(

one more thing, $520 bucks?! that seems a bit steep for me

For his price I would want a dual projector!

02-22-2006, 07:28 PM
jstrat thats funny as hell! they look good though, Thats why i got so pissed i just finished putting in my crystal ones like last week and now they have projectors!! i was like wtf?? its almost a relief to me that they are not the projectors that we are looking for cuz i would of had to buy them, and the price does suck :D
K_Sport Driver
02-22-2006, 07:30 PM
my mistake. I know that's how the stock bulbs were, and figured it would be very strange to have a projector fog light IN the headlight assembly. oh well.
for 520, they better have 3 damn projectors. duals were available for my old car for only 350. Benz markup i guess. i'll stick with the crystals when i get the money
jstrat85
02-22-2006, 07:43 PM
Those are the one that IM looking for! I have my hids bulbs in my fog lights. thats the look IM looking for! Ill probably buy them but not now.

02-22-2006, 08:06 PM
OH! see i have my hid's in the low and high beam, that makes sence for you then jstrat, get em! i wanna see them! and yeah for that price they better come with alot more than a projector if you know what i mean :D

so would it be possible if someone actually contact a aftermarket headlamp manufacturer to see if there's a chance of making some? things like this had been done in the past in this club, like jeff and his penske shocks. anyone know of any manufacturers?

Heres a ?, most of us with the newer models ( which he says you need to replace the trim on for 50 bucks) know the lil "mod" of just removing your trim piece all together. i wonder if the same can be applied to these so you can avoid that 50 bucks... lol. i sent an email, havnt heard back yet though.

The price is a bit steep. The reason no one else has made one yet is because although you might think there's a high demand, it doesn't compare to the demand by honda owners. To make the mold, R&D, and eventually manufactured costs quite a bit.
That said, if you REALLY wanted to, you can modify these and fit some projectors in there for the driving lights. The biggest problem in the past was that no one made the front plastic/glass clear. I wonder if that piece will fit on the stock headlights. My friend bought a set of Audi projectors and modified his own set. Much nicer than using the crappy projectors found on these ebay type of lights. Most of the projector headlights on ebay can't even hold an HID bulb because the bulbs tend to be longer.
So, anyone want to shell out the $, get these lights, buy a set of audi projectors, and get a nice set going? :)
I agree with the other guys...give it a few months, and another company will copy them, save the R&D costs, and sell them for $150. :) Ok, maybe $200.

so they finaly made the darn projector headlights for the 202 looks nice ,very nice but im still the maguiver type.:D just got my 211 by xeneon kit so im still doing a custom one hopefully it will look as good as the ones they are selling in ebay. want some advise from you guys do you think the lens would look better on the inside (like the ones on ebay) or on the outside like the ones from audi 8????

I like the non-projector crystals better. cant you do some mods and add a projector in there ? it will look better and be alot cheaper.

Wats up guys I called up the guy who is selling these projectors light for our car and he said that if I buy 5 pairs he can sell them to me for $2,000. I think if we do a group buy on these lights we can get a cheaper price. what do you guys think?
seriously. give it some time. it will be really cheap down the road.

They seem to be closing out on ebay for the low 400's, plus 70 shipping. In the grand scheme of things, if they're built well, it's not that bad of a price. Consider that Stanley/Raybrig Multi-Reflector H6054 conversion H4 headlamps for any applicable cars costs $120-150 for the pair, and they are completely plastic with no electrical components.
Cibie has a glass front at least, and costs $200 for the pair-- but no projector, just fancy plastic as the reflector portion.
I know most of us would buy these ebay ones and think about stuffing Valeo ECE projectors into the low-beam spot, anyway, turning into... what... a $1000 headlight upgrade? =)

Hi Guyz...
I saw them! They are at the moment not "allowed" in Germany :D ... Because they got no E Code :( ...
I think they look really "uncomplete"... One Lens and the other is normal! Thats not good for my taste!
But @SLAMMED_C ... How you´ve done it, is good! It looks soooo great! Hmm.. But if they were "clear" (at bothe sides :D ), they were better! Hmm... how you have done this ? And is it allowed to do this in the USA? If you can give me more Information, I would be very greatful :)
Thank you!
Regards ;)

okay.. so you bought the top ones then.. the ones with the extra pin on the headlight plug.. and the city light bulb.
$400 to $200 is a big difference!.. what is there such a huge price difference between the top and bottom set of projectors?... they both seem to be the same light (except one has an extra bulb in it)
would the ones at $200 be okay do you think?
I want to get a set and have projectors now!!.. then when I finish mine I can just swap them out for my custom ones.

this may be a ridiculous question, but to my knowledge, nobody has asked it yet.
can you screw around with the connecting pins in the headlight to get it so that your high beam becomes your normal light and vice versa? that seems like it would be the easiest way to get around the trouble. screw all that custom fab to get it in the right slot.

As for "baking" the clear corners. Don't try it, you will warp the assemblies. The corners don't use the same type of adheasive as the headlight lenses. If you wan't to get them apart, you will need to cut the lenses off.
I already did this with one of the "ruined" clear corners I have. Most of the interior of the light is red, going to try a little less red on the next one.

That's not a fair representation of what they would look like anyhow. He just photoshopped them darker, which would be the equivalent of tinting the front. If I understand the description correctly, the "titanium" version would be a clear front with a black background, but the reflectors would still be reflective. In other words, it would look like the factory tC lights:

at ebay, i noticed that some say that their lights will only fit into U.S. & canadian models.
* it fits on stock 94-00 Mercedes Benz W202 C-Class all models (C220/C230/C230 Kompressor/C280/C36/C43) for the United States and Canada version only
why is this so? I knew that post 96 models have different lights.. but didn't know that U.S. & canadian models were different.
I found out that some lights sold at ebay has 4 pins while some has 6. is this why u.s. spec lights would not fit into my euro model?
what would i have to check before i order a clear headlamps for my euro spec. c200?

I believe that the euro spec headlights have the vacuum adjustable leveling.. (6 pin conector) and I guess the seller doesnt offer this option in the headlight.
anyone confirm this?

Just some questions.
I have bought crystal headlights for W202 and fit them into my C200 year 95 car. I then replace the original yellow bulb 55W with white bulb 110W.
Will there be any side effect of using bigger power of 110W, since the original power is just 55W.
Hope to get an answer.
Thanks in advance ! :)

Outside of toasting the headlight wiring harness, flames bursting out from under your hood, and the ECU going wonky, no side effects to speak of.

I have ECU problem right after 1 week using 110W bulb...really sad...I dont know whether it is just coincidence...
I guess the ECU could go crazy...perhaps you fried your ECU

just get hids.... less power consumption and waay more light. i used to have 110w bulbs too but they shorted out my wires somewhere and it was a hefty repair bill. BUT NOW i got 35w hids :D
btw do the projector headlamps actaully project the light like its suppose to or is it just for looks?

Sorry mate, my English is not so good. Do you mean, there will be no bad side effect at all?
What do u mean by ECU going wonky? Will the ECU damage?
Sorry for the sarcasm. Two things will probably happen, you'll burn wiring, connectors and relays, and the voltage will be too low to your ECU, among other things. Your electrical system is not engineered for such high wattage bulbs. Chances are your ECU will clear up once you put the regular bulbs back in. If you're lucky, you haven't burnt the wiring yet. Put the 55W bulbs back in NOW before too much damage is caused.

so question on the projector headlights... mainly for anyone that has them, would a set of "angel eyes" be able to fit to the surround of the projector???
i think that would look pretty sick....

IM not that sure because ones you open the light in the back you have no accesses going to the front. I thought about this and IM like they would look good!

well like the stock ones the glass lens in the front is removable to gain access... is this not trure on these ones??
the angel eyes for the e36 look a bit too small. they DO sell the CCFL light tubes for other cars like the is300 and so on that might fit.
