Anyone know what the correct shift points (mph) are for a 1995 c280?
I have an auto tran and its seems to be stuck in low gear at times and not shifting correctly ( to 4 ) at higher speeds.
All I hear is that high engine noise you should get right before the tran shifts, but no shifting.

Can this even be answered. Doesnt it ddepend on the load you are putting on your car, whether you are traveling uphill, against wind, etc.?

i am having the same problem with my 96 c280. it upshifts only when the engine is above 3000 rpm or when i let go of the gas and when it does upshift, it upshifts really rough.

regular upshifts/downshifts are calculated by several factors and inputs, and the results are variable. however, each gear has a determined max speed at which it should upshift/downshift. but I dont exactly know what the max shift points are for your car.

My car has sort of been doing this also.
When I first start up for the day it will stick in 2nd gear until I break 30-35mph. Then, it will stick in third until about 55 or 60, and when it shifts, it hangs between third and fourth until I pump the gas a couple times then it will shift into fourth. However, it only does this when the engine is cold. And the colder the weather the worse the symptoms. I'm fairly certain it's all due to my tranny needing some fluid or a flush--given the nature of how the temperature seems to play a major role in the whole thing.

This happens to me too, and I've heard other 202 owners describe the same thing. I'm under the impression that it's normal and that you just have to wait for your car to warm up.

No, it's never done this in the 7 years I've had it. The behavior it's exhibiting right now definitely points to something being ill!
But here's to HOPING you're right.
