what size is the stock exaust piping on a 1995 c220? is it 2 inches? or bigger than that?

I THINK, though I do not promise, that it is 2.5"

2.5 would be pretty big for stock on a 4 cyl. i bet it's only 2"

C280's pipe is 2.25in, so C220 is either the same or smaller, like 2in.

a free flowing 2.25" system all the way back would be all the flow a 4cyl would ever need while not reducing back pressure too long, 2.5" would result in torque loss on a 4 cyl.

a naturally aspirated 4 cyl, yes. I went from 1.75" to 2.25" on my last 1.5L 4 cyl and i pretty much killed my backpressure. on a larger displacement engine without forced induction, go no larger than 2.25

I just remembered why I said 2.5" - that is what my custom piping was made to when I had my C220 turbo'd. Sorry for any confusion. I think the Mosselman downpipe came in at 2.5" but adapted into regular piping, but we made it 2.5" all the way to the muffler...
