is there any way to turn off the traction control? I know you can do it for cars like m3 and mustang, but I can't seem to find out anywhere on the web on how to turn it off for mercedes. I've heard of people turning it off on audi s4's by following an entire set of steps w/in 15 seconds of start-up and was wondering if mercedes does the same. any help would be appreciated.:beard:

there is a button on the dash that either says esp or asr. switch it and there should be a orange triangle that glows in the cluster. Its not completely off but less restrictive

I looked into the fuse thing before an it's tied to all kinds of stuff, including ABS, so I didn't touch it.

i have a malfunctioning bas/esp system in my 00 c230 k, so i pulled the fuse in an attempt to totally disable the esp. the error light came on as i expected, yet my esp remained totally functional, except now the esp off button didnt work! so, what seemed like an obvious solution totally didnt work.

id love to find out how to totally disable traction control though. it takes the fun out of driving.

why would you want to turn off traction control???

you gotta trick the computer by putting in a dummy pin in the traction control connector. Im not quite sure what im talking about, i heard some people talking about it a long while back

joshm-i want to turn off traction control so that i can control my own car instead of vice versa! t.c. (i.e. esp) doesnt let you have any fun, and it will even keep your engine from revving sometimes. its for people who dont know how to drive, basically, so they dont hurt themselves. i dont need it.

jnolte-hmm thats interesting! you put a pin in the fuse location? if you could find out how this works id be enthralled!

so will you be able to do burn outs? and have more torque?

its a manumatic. eh you can power brake but i feel that is harmful to the drivetrain so i dont do it. i just use the throttle for power-on oversteer sometimes. it doesnt do much of a straight line burnout, which is fine, that means the power is going to the road. not to be rude, but what is complex about doing a burnout? i dont really understand your question!

hold the brake and give her gas at the same time. its pretty stupid wasting tires.
