okay i posted earlier about my unusual starting but now i also want to know y sometimes when my car is cold the 1st couple gears shift hard even though i have an automatic

In you manual it will describe your situation.

Basically, your car is waiting till your cats are up to temp.

I don't remember it saying anything about that in my car's manual (1995 C280), maybe it was added later.

Anyway, I was just flipping through the manual, and realized how stupid I am. In the manual section about "Starting and Turning off Gasoline Engine" for both cold and hot engines it says "Do not depress accelerator. Turn key blah blah blah".

I read this a long time ago and must have thought "do not depress" meant "press" :D ( my bad english vocabulary I guess :bored: ) So I always have my foot on the gas when I start the car, even when it's cold ( yikes :confused: ), but that's about it, I never drive the car when it's still too cold, I always let it warm up until I see the idle drop or the temp needle move, or if I have to move I keep it below 2500 rpm.

I hope nothing bad ever happened to my engine :bored:
