The people here are taking thir taillights to body shops. They are using black automotive paint and diluting it (thinning it out) to the desire tint.!!

Hey big, I used JDM tint spray and it comes with clear coat already
i got it in ebay as well.
the spray was easy to use just clean the surface throughly and coat it.

I was thinking about taking my tailights to a tint shop and having them tint them. Has anyone had any experience in this.. Or would it be better to just you a spray?

They look pretty nice not to light and not to dark, but I think it would look better with the updated tailights because it doesn't have the white in them.

on the car they look awesome!

yea I checked out the thing online - where you send em your lights, they sand them and tint them, and the price is way toooo much!

spray is the easiest and fastest way to go, and damn easy to use!!!

they shine like they are new lights!

totals under $20 to tint yourself and apply any amount you want, or pay a few hundred and ship your lights who knows where.

definatly outside, i just masked the center grey area.

if your lights look old and faded (like mine did from the sun) then this will make them shiny agian (if used correctly) and best part is - u cant even tell they been painted, my dad is still trying to figure out how I did this . LoL

ahh did you use a clear coat on top? I painted my front corner light with tint spray (nightshades) to give them a slight tint, but the paint is a matt colour not gloss. I done thin coats from a distance, then clear on top.

been wanting to do the rear lights for some time and just want to know what’s best method before I do..

thanks

you local bodyshop will do all this for like 50 bucks

I've had lots of experience with night shades, its good stuff and you have lots of control, I find that it can sometimes have a matt/dull sort of finish, if you put on heavier coats it becomes glossier but you risk runs etc. I have not tried with clear over the top so this may help!

Personally i would consider a body shop mixing clear and black and having them do it, it will be spotless and very shiny like your car.... see how you go! and probably not too expensive either

HANDY HINT: To remove thick coats of nightshades that have been on lights for ages...rub with some metho and then spray thick amounts of clear coat onto spots about 7cm x 7cm at a time...then pour more metho ontop of the clear and WIPE with a course tea towel...this takes the night shades off quite well and will save hours and hours of elbow grease just trying to use thinners alone

I might give tail light night shade a try.
Has anyone used a window tint spray before.

The same guy who sells the night shade on ebay also sells a window tint spray.

My car definitely needs a tint.
Is it better to have it done using films?

never ever used DIY tint spray on windows! film is the only way to do it properly!

no man, just let the pro's do tinting with films the traditional ways!

window tint spray will get ugly! also our windows are very smooth so the paint can chip off and scratch easy!

nope, no clear coat! I bought clear coat before - and when I applied it to a random item - it made it dull and flat so i dont really know why or how but as for NightShades goes - like you said U applied from a distance - well apply from a closer distance but be very careful so id doesnt run!

for me I got it right the first time!

Hey, if you're going to tint your tail lights, I suggest not tinting the bottom red part of it and only tinting the top red brake light section and the middle white section and do the middle section slightly less.

That's closer to the OEM look and it looks very nice in my opinion.

yea thats what I was going for then thought - Fuck it, the top looks sick so ill do the bottom a little, but the white parts - leave em as is.

There is a smoke colored paint made by tamiya for models that some of the JDM guys use....shuold check it out, I tried spraying my acura emblem w/ that color and it turned out really nice, jjust make sure you know how to spray or you will get bad results.
