TIP:dont try pushing the antenna down its likely to end in tears:D

so nothing at all happens when the car is switched on?...
maybe fuse...or your remote wire has become disconnected or has failed.

I tried pushing it down but it didnt want to so I know when to stop so it doesnt break.

yea I turn the car on, antenna is up, turn it off, antenna is up. the aftermarket deck closes when I turn the car off and yea.

hey do you know how to check your remote wire?...
do you have an amp?

yea ive had an amp.

what I did to the remote wire is I ran it directly to the positive feed, and had an ON/Off switch in the middle so I can turn my amp on when I wanted to and off when I just didnt feel like it or when my dad was in the car - he hates all the bass and stuff.

switch is in my armrest box.

for any of my future cars - Ill be doing the same thing because that switch really comes in handy!

EDIT: to check it ... well basically your amp wont turn ON if its cut along the way. usually Amps have little lights that tell you weather its on or off.

you got it man!,i did the same to my last two cars buy putting in a seperate switch for the amp and antenna!...
well guess you better check your fuse...failing that check earthing, voltage and remote voltage at the antenna before you pull it out for a new one!...

....Alittle odd though...as the antenna needs the constant ~.5V remote to stay up...so maybe its broken or you dont have +12 or - there.

Sounds like your wiring is wrong. With the correct harness, you should have the antenna powerwire that powers the antenna.

If the remote wire for the antenna became disconnected some how, it would just automatically come down. Since the antenna is stuck up, it must be either a failed fuse or the antenna motor has stopped working.

Gothca. I was under them impression that the antenna was not working. Not that it was working and suddenly stopped.

radio works. everything works - just antenna wont go back down when car is off. And I cant seem to find the fuse anywhere. Ive checked the fusebox in the trunk next to the battery and the one under the hood (driver side) and those are the only boxes I know of. they dont have fuses for the antenna

Check for the 7.5 amp fuse #4 in the rear fuse compartment.

well after a while my antenna is stuck up agian.

its been a few days and nothing, I pulled out the moter and the entire antenna thing - I opened it up to see if its a mechanical problem or an electrical one, ive found out that all the mechanical parts work fine the gears the belt the plastic rod w/teeth. I manually wind that thing so its in the down position - place everything back and all the sudden it goes up ... and keeeeps on going about 30 seconds after its supposed to stop. ignition off and It wont go down

so now it cant be a fuse, its not mechanically challenged - so the circuit board inside or ... ? this antenna is really confused and doesnt know what to do anymore.

oh yea, radio DOES NOT work.

take the pug off the antenna motor.
look at pin 4
should see 12V with the radio on and fm selected.
turn radio off and the 12V should disappear.

If everything is in order there, then it's got to be the motor just not reversing.
