anyone using 5x112 to 5x114.3 adapter?
I've just picked up 17" 7.5" ET35 5x114.3 MOMO rims (was thinking of using on I30t) but since I'm in search of 5x112 rims at the moment, I was wondering if I can use this rims on W202.

anyone used one of those before?
is it safe to use them?
where can I find them?

you can get them redrilled if you really want to use them.

Yes, after posting the questions about the adapter, I was thinking of redrilling since it has single bolt pattern on MOMO.

how much shops charge for redrilling? I don't know if I can find a shop in my town. I have to ask around.

checked out the rim if it's possible to have another bolt pattern drilled. Nada. there's no room for it.

but I found something weird.

I found there was X122 stamped at the back of the rims. It's 17", ET35, 7.5" width MOMO.
I thought it was 5x114.3 but when I saw X122 stamp, I had a feeling that it means 5x122 bolt pattern.

I've never tried the rims on the car(I30) so I don't know if it's in deed 122 or 114.3

I know the following.
M-B / Audi = 5x112
BMW = 5x120
Asian imports = 5x114.3
US domestic = anywhere between 100-110.
VW = 5x100

I've never heard of 122mm.

can anyone confirm?

OK.
5x120 is not quite 5x122.
as I mentioned earlier, most BMW uses 5x120.

NEVER MIND.

that stamp didn't mean anything. (well it wasn't bolt pattern... sigh).

I just tried it on my I30, perfect fit. so it was 5x114.3

I've bought 2 sets of wrong bolt pattern rims so I was little paranoid.

All is well now.. :)

You can change a 114.3mm bolt circle to a 112mm by remachining the wheel bolt holes. Then the bolt hole is resized back down to a 12mm bolt size by pressing in a steel insert. With the steel insert the wheel may be even more secure or stronger provided the insets have the correct press fit interference.

All of my SSR Comp wheels in the 17x9.5" size have been machined like this and have held up great even through several days of race track use.

Jeff

so you mean make 5x112 holes to the existing 5x114.3 holes resulting in very big holes and then using steel insert to cover the excess hole?

am I understood correct?
