I need to replace my valve cover gasket on my 2000 C280, and wondered if anyone knows what torque it needs tightened to? Also this should be no big deal should it? Looks like all I need to do is remove the air intake.

Thanks,
Dean

just use a 1/4 inch ratchet and make them snug (lil snug once the bolt stops). you'll be fine! easy way to get to the rear bolts is to use a 8mm 1/4 inch swivel socket with a long extension instead of the inverted torx sockets. yes just remove the intake and and the 3 torx bolts that hold the coils to the valve cover for the passenger side valve cover. for the drivers side use a 17mm wrench and lossen the fuel line at the back of the valve cover connecting to the fuel rail. this makes it easy to take the valve cover out. be careful when removing the intake at the rear as i cannot count as to how many people will break these clips!

the bolts on the M111 are M10,which require 9Nm,i would suspect yours to be the same if they are also M10?
