I just found two pieces of my drivers side susp. spring/coil on the driveway. I have never in almost 17 years of wrenching on mustangs have EVER had this happen or even seen it happen. Is this common? What could be the cause? I ordered new Vought springs to replace them, but is this a sign of bigger problems? Thanks guys!!!

I have a '99 Kompressor as well and it had a broken spring when I bought it with 76k. When I told people they were like, "you have a broken what!?!?".

I actually posted a pic of mine a while back,

god I love Cali!

no snow, no salt on the roads, no rusty cars - just cracked interior trim and faded paint jobs! :D

the different climates.. the sumemr and winter.. the spring starts to rust and eventually breaks a piece off. see it all the time.

The car is really clean, no rust on the floor boards or wheel wells. Ive had rat trap Mustangs with holes in the floors and the springs were fine.....:( BTW, are any special tools needed to swap them out, ive got standard spring compressors....

you will struggle with normal spring compressors, but it can be done, i have done myne without spring compressors(you just need to unbolt a bit more stuff), theres a post on it somewhere on this site, search for it and you should find
