Hey Guys, I was wondering if any of you have changed the tranny fluid and filter in a 202. I have done so on all my vehicles in the past but the owners manual for my 1999 C230K states that changing it is unecessary. Also, if you have, would putting in slick 50 trans fluid additive help or hurt? Thanks!!!

yes, you do need to change the trans fluid and filter. and no, DO NOT put that cheap stuff in it! if you want to preserve your trans and help it out work smoother and cooler, use one of the treatments on the list:

benz states that the tranny fluid is lifetime and never needs to be changed! personnaly, that is a load of crap. have you ever seen that fluid come out of a car with over 60k on it. "black as can be". do yourself a favor and change the filter, gasket and the fluid but be prepared to spend some $$$$$. like $27 a quart these days in my area. prices went up on tranny fluid over 100%. make sure to drain the torque convertor also. 4 quarts in the pan and 3 in the torque in case you don't have a dipstick. just fill 7 to 7.5 quarts and you'll be fine.

you dont need to go with the OEM fluid, redline D4 ATF will do, you get much better and smoother performance out of your transmission. add one of the additives I have listed, and you are all set.
