I recently had my codes read and I have 2 codes, P0300 and P0302. Which as I understand it the # 2 coil. I checked the connections and wiring harness, so I think it may really be # 2 coil - but which of the two coils is # 2? The one on spark plug #2 or the one on spark plug # 4? I read early from a Gilly reply that P0302 is for cylinder 2 and P0301 is cylinder 1, but given this four banger only has two coils. It appears that the number # 2 coil is for cyclinders 1 and 4, and therefore this coil is the one mounted atop of #4 spark plug. Some help would be much appreciated.

Please help.

PO300 is a general misfire code. anytime the computer reads a misfire in the engine, this code will appear. then the last number indicates the cylinder that is misfiring. example - PO301 (cylinder 1), PO302 (cylinder 2) and so on. so if you have PO302, then you have a misfire in cylinder #2. have you changed your plugs lately? how old are they? how old are the wires? usually it's the plugs and/or wires that cause misfires. the coils and the fuel injectors are usually not the case however sometimes they will go bad as i'm sure people on here will say they had to replace them. i would change all your plugs and wires since you have a 4 cylinder...it'll be cheap!!!!!

I had a misfire on cylinder 2, replaced plugs and wires, still was misfiring so I pulled the codes and it turned out to be the fuel injector..

Ok to diagnose misfires.

- First Check all the rubber boots, a little crack with cause it to misfire.

- Change all the spark plugs if you haven't already.

- If you think it is bad coil, then swap coils with another cylinder that is working. If the misfires jumps cylinder than it must be the coil.

- Usually if a coils bad 2 cylinders will misfire.

good luck.
