How to disable factory cell phone "beep"

I have a 2000 c280 that came with a factory cell phone. There is no phone installed, however, it makes an annoying old-school car phone beep every time I power up the car. Can this be disabled?

ya..the speaker is on teh right hand side kick panel.. remove that.. and unplug the speaker

Sounds like the phone equipment is still installed but the handset was removed. If you still have the handset plug it back in and turn off the phone using the handset. This will get rid of the beep.

do you have the telephone that sits in the dash center console area?.. if so you can remove this and install a cubby hole in that spot.
or you can just remove the unit and unplug it.

I didn't get around to disconnecting the speaker yesterday (gotta love mother's day! :o ).

Anyway, I can see the connectors inside the lower armrest cubbyhole, unfortunately, I do not have the handset to switch off the beep that way.
