Is this a Hoover Vacuum Cleaner attachment?
I posted this on another forum but no one seems to have any experience or comments.
It seems to be the poor man's supercharger. The description indicates an electric powered blower which is generic for all cars that might improve mass flow but at much lower pressures than a "full-blown" type supercharger.
Any feedback from anyone with experience on any type car with this fitted?

this thing comes up every so often...
what a joke ... 2.2Amps of current drawn? At 12 volts that calculates out to be just 58 watts of draw on the electrical system ... a fraction of a horsepower, 0.077779 of electrical HP to be exact.

When you conside how many horse a typical blower draws on the engine to get its cfm increases (up to several dozen depending on RPM), I'd think this thing gives you a 2 hp increase ... and only at low RPM. It just won't be able to keep up with the airflow needed @ high RPM, where Horsepower is made!
The concept is sound, if you were to use a -huge- electric motor to drive the fan. With the electric motor being used tho? forget about it.

If I read you right, I think you are saying at low RPM you will get a very tiny gain in HP (say 2 HP), but at medium and higher RPMs this device will not keep up with airflow intake demand and may even choke or restrict the airflow?
Dam! Just how many cubic feet of air a minute goes through an engine at high RPM?
I guess if you had a powerful enough fan to supply the engine you would call it a supercharger!

In the hundreds; well under a thousand for most street cars I believe. Depends on the displacement size, redline, and efficiency of the engine. One formula is:
CFM = CID x RPM x VE ÷ 3456
CID = displacement in cubic inch
VE = volumetric efficiency of an engine. Less then 1 for a normally asperated engine, greater then 1 for a supercharged engine. I believe a rule of thumb is VE is proportional to the HP/Liter of an engine. MB engines are not that efficient sadly, so VE -might- be 0.75 to 0.85. (I speak with no certainty on these numbers ; There might be info on that out here or on other boards.)
However aside from that. This all boilds down to do you believe the claims that a little electric motor can push 250cfm, and further, keep pushing that air and create pressure (boost) in the intake manifold? Fans are not "air pumps" like roots and lysholm (sic) type superchargers; air can flow against the fan rotation; only -super- high RPM enables a fan to create boost. This thing might be able to blow some air, but I'm certain it won't pump much and create pressure with that little fan & electric motor if there's any resistance to the airflow.

hehe yes same equivalent thing. Differential is the #1 mod you can do on a NA car if the car's gearing is not already optimized but for some stupid reason MB programs their ratios into the tranny computer which SUCKS! otherwise we'd all be running much faster.
