Hi
I really need help. I installed the Panasonic head unit in my 98 202w using the VW's adapter. Everything works fine, except the AM radio. AM radio almost cant pull in any station (fm works fine). Anybody know how to fix this problem? anything I can do to fix this? thanks in advance

I didn't think you needed an ISO adapter when fitting an aftermarket h/u on a w202. Maybe someone can correct me if i'm wrong?

The original MB HU used a different antenna connector than a jap's and most after market.

And yes, I used the adapter for the VW (recommanded by all the forum).

I think the problem might be due to the ANTENNA AMPLIFIER. I dont believe the adapter harness has a power connect to feed the amplifier. Anybody know anything about this? and have any solution for it?
Thank you

everyone uses the metra harness adapter #70-9401 OR #71-1784 (vw adapter). i believe that's the one. i called metra though and they have a specific one for benz with the bose amp system and another one for non bose. its a different part number. the number they gave me is the one i used and it worked great even though i later bypassed the whole factory bose system. i forgot the part number though, but call them and ask. there tech guys are good!

you can't buy if from them unless your a authorized dealer so just write down the part number and make your local audio store order it for you!

i found a site that sells them...they are made by "metra"
http://www.autotoys.com/x/catalog/Dash_Kits_Harnesses_WIRE_HARNESSES_WIRE_HARNESS_ME RCEDES_BENZ_page_1_c_319.html

i bought mine a while ago when sonicelectronix was still in business. neve been to this site but that's the correct harness for your car even though other's might work!

Thank you for the link. I'll call them for the infomation tomorrow. THe harness I use right now look different, but it is working for cd and other function so it must be similar. The problem is my car uses the build in window antenne, not the regular go up and down antenna. And according to the book is has the power amplifier (for antenna), not sure if the harness has the power supplier for the amplifier

And for people with the 98 and up 202 (window antenna), when you replace the HU, do you have any problem with AM reception? thank you
