got a question for you...I need to replace my instrument cluster for a 1996 C36 but I saw the C43 cluster look better, same size? I check with the dealership and they have 3 different part number for C43.

Can someone tell me what part number would fit for my 96 C36 or you cannot do that.

This is the part number for all C43 model.

1998 part number is A202 540 56 48
1999 part number is A202 540 88 48
2000 part number is A202 440 22 11

thanks ahead...

Hm I see that noone has answered your thread so far so Ill try to help you as much as I can. I have a C36 cluster and even though it doesnt have a part number on it, I know that it has the same sockets as the regular ones do, at first glance at least. Check the link for pictures, dont mind the green squares. Its the (___/''''''''''\___) shaped one (bottom of middle dial). And so is your 96's one I assume. Just some extra info, hope it helps.

I am pretty sure that the 98,99,00 clusters are not comaptible with your car.

NEA-4311 my cluster look just like that one from the link.. but I was hopeing I can put the C43 cluster in instead..it should be the same size and everything...the only thing different from a C36 and a C43 is the color inside...that's it.

I was hopeing some clearfication on this....anyone?

I think the different part numbers might be the different gauge shapes over the years, also three, the (___/''''''''''\___) shaped one, the all round one and the round with big LCD in the middle - latest shape. the C43 gauges are white if I can recall, check the sockets in my pics, if the sockets are the same as the C36 one, it will fit no problem because the C36 panel (and correct me if Im wrong) fits to the regular 202 cars sockets.

The C43 cluster you are looking into should without problem fit in your dash and plug into the connectors you already have.. but since the 98 and newer clusters have slightly differetn displays.. they may not function properly.. especially the 2000 C43 cluster.

Thatswhy it would be better to replace your panel with a same-shapped one.
