I finally received my projector headlights, (yay), here are some photos. If you have any questions or need any info, go ahead. They cost me $194.00 and they are not directional at height by the pump function. :( The lense is made of glass and not plastic and there isnt any way to separate it from the rest of the headlight because its glued and you ll probably damage it. I wont be near my car for the next 2-3 weeks so I cant fit them on my car yet.

Price is in $ (US Dollars). The bastard wanted $160.00 to ship with FedEx! I couldnt do anything. :(
Fitment seems OK, Ive seen other 202s here with pjs, they look pretty cool. Even if they come up with a projector corner I still prefer the crystal clear ones. :)

Hahahah! :D Dude I AM planning to paint my moldings and bottom parts white, but as soon as get my hands on some facelift sideskirts! They are not easy to find and I dont want to buy a new set. If you check the Greek merC thread you will see some photoshop mods, Im sure you will like most of them. Ive found some LED bulbs but they are 8-10 dollars a pair!!! (In Euros).I will continue my search and we ll see. Thanks for your comments once again.:)
Members Gallery again?!:eek:I wasnt going to post any more pics duuude!! :D Denlasoul man this thread is talking about these projector headlights in general and answers to any question someone might have. I was planning to resize the pics later anyway, the reason I kept this size is for everyone to have a closer look (face, top and back/bottom) of the Projectors....
:hmmm:So is it any thread that has any kind of photo / picture, at any size, on any subject, at any number to be in the members gallery no matter what? (well except DIY pics like the "remove gauge panel glass" thread). OK I get it now.:)

looks good.....btw do you have xenon lights to go with those or no ?
NEA-4311
05-21-2006, 05:43 AM
No, no xenons. HID kits cost just under around $1000 here in Europe and I cant afford one at the moment. I also hate the fact that the projectors are used as foglights and not as the middle or high beam.

I think you are confused, and thus have me confused as well! I moved this Thread out of the Member's Gallery because the thread is primarily about you showing off you pictures of the projectors. I feel it belongs in the Electronic Upgrades as that is exactly what the thread is about.
Now I said to feel free to add these pictures to the Member's Gallery, that is resize the pictures and add the pictures to your current thread: "Greek merC" (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9626) when you get the chance.
Bottom line, please start new threads in the Member's Gallery only for you car (if you have multiple cars, then you may have one thread for each car). Everything else should go to their appropriate sections: for example, this thread belongs to Electronic Upgrades.

I hvae those same lights and they look and fit great. As far as HID kit, here is a site that sells them for like 235. They are shipping for 4.00 right now. I dont know if they ship international, but im sure if you email them, you can work something out. Teh High/low bulb is a H4 bulb and the fog is a H3. the install is super simple. I recomend 6000k for max light output. Here is a pic ot the 6000k on my car. The site is www.oznium.com but to go directly to the lights, it is [/URL] HID lights at Oznium (http://www.oznium.com/hid?sid=95953999638a73d9dc98208422900c66)

Hmm, if you want max light output, you would be looking at around 4300 kelvin, 6000 kelvin actually puts out less lumins than 4300.
therock2689
06-18-2006, 07:46 PM
Well, that is true, you are right. But, at 4300K is about the same as sunlight. But, at 6000k has teh best color i think, at leaste the color to light ratio, but then agian, thats up to each person

hey therock2689, how is your beam pattern with projector head lights? Does it give you a clean cutoff?

i normaly dont run the projectors at night alone so i cant realy say right now. But , when i run them with the HID's, i see that the beam is wider then the main beam and it does seem to extend quite far, but i cant tell with HID's, they get mixed togetther and i can tell. Ill do it tonight and repost then.

I finally (a month ago) installed my set of projectors which sucked, the regulators were broken (dealer sold me a f up pair) and I had to spend more money to open and replace them with new ones, then water was coming in the left headlight so I had to open and seal it again, then the right one had to be sealed too. I lost the right crystal clear cornerlight because the fitment sucked too and it popped out and even though I fixed them, the light quality is poor anyway. I now have the stock corners but it still looks nice with the pjs. the whole thing costed me around 500 euros, I will keep them for a couple of years and I will buy a new OEM pair.
(By the way what does O.E.M. stands for?)

Hi NEA,
I was thinking about taking those aftermarkets headlights, but they seem to be bad stuff.
I've read on your topic in "Gallery", that your car is a Nov.97, just as mine, so I presume you were runing some H7 and H1 in your stock Headlights, so you now run some H4 with new proj., right ?
Since i have HID 8000K°, i don't like to loose the vacum pump to set the headlights.
Thx,
Frenchy.

Yes the bulbs are now different, when you select high beam, the OEM headlights had a separate lamp for it so both beams stayed on (medium/high). If that was the case with the pjs, they would melt by time and you were gonna have to change the H4 bulb like every month so they changed that, and when you select the high beam in the H4 bulb, it doesnt light both um... things :D up, it terminates the small light and lights up the big one so in the gauge panel inside, the light that you have a problematic bulb somewhere comes up, but only when you have high beam on. I say buy a pair but make 100% sure that they are directional first. I didnt see any pjs that are, I HAVE seen some crystals though. Good luck.

Thanks for reply,
Is there any possibility to swap wires, and connect the fog lights to make it as High beam (like on OEM Headlights), so i could run H7/H1 bulbs, becaus i don't like the H4 solution...:(
Maybe i will go for the Crystal one, with directional option, but i think they use H4 bulbs as well....
Thanks anyway ;)

You can do anything you want with them but you need to definitely know what yr doin and you ll probably need to separate the glass from the plastic (open them). If you do that you should then have to seal them again with silicone veeery carefully and tightly so they can be waterproof again, its kind of risky and you must also know what yr doin as well.
A really good idea I want to try myself sometime is to CHANGE THE BULB TYPE inside the actual projector with a stronger (brighter) one. That because if you set the projectors as they are to be your medium beam, you will realise that the light quality isnt that bright and that you wont be able to see properly.
However if you take for example the newer E-class (w211) or the previous or current NISSAN PRIMERA, or aaany car that uses projectors as the medium beam, you will realise that, the beam spreads exactly like my poor headlights, only a lot brighter. Thats because of the bulb itself. Or so I think, please correct me if im wrong. :)

Please, can you tell me what's your light setup ? Which bulbs ?
I think you have some H1 (fog light) in the projectors, and H4 for the Medium/high Beam.
Personaly, i have a 8000K° H7 HID kit, that i 'd want to fit in the Projector, and i'd fit a H1 bulb for the High Beam. A small 5w bulb under the H1 for the City light, and for the fog light, i'd add some aftermarkets in the Bumper.
As you can see on Spookie's (mercedes-forum.com) headlight :
http://www.spookies-w202.de/Galerie/018_Mai_2006_Neuhausen/spookie_051_thumb.jpg
Only thing to check is the beam pattern, because since tre proj. seem to be for the foglight, it should light very low, not as far as the medium/high beam.
Regarding separating the glass from the plastic, some bracket are visible on top of the headlight, just like OEM, may be those are to maintain the glass ?
I mean the grey brackets on your pic :
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j137/NEA-4311/93077f18.jpg
Or maybe those brackets are to maintain the reflector inside the headlight.
Regards,
Frenchy.

Yes, I have H1 (fog light) in the projectors, and H4 for the Medium/high Beam. I ve read that in order for both aftermarket hlights not to melt, Your HID bulbs should only be 55W.
The thing about the projector is that it doesnt light very low, its actually slightly higher than the medium beam! And the reflector is moving as one, all beams at once. I dont know but the H1s dont do the trick for me, they arent strong enough to light up the street properly. Thatswhy I thought of putting in stronger lamps and use them as mediums.
The brackets dont do anything at all, the glass is just glued to the plastic.

Ok, thanks for reply ;)
Curious that the Proj. lights higher than the medium ...
The HID Kit is an equivalent 35W halogen bulb, and is less hot than a regular 55W(H4 or H7) halogen bulb, that's why you must have some Headlight washer's or nozzle's with HID kit.
Since the Glass stills cold, in winter, when snowing, the snow "sticks" on the glass, so with headlight washer's, you can remove snow from headlight.
Just an Idea, won't it be possible to include reflector and Glass of the aftermarkets into the OEM housing, so maybe we can still use the directional function ?
Last question :
Those aftermarkets HL have actual Glass front, or cheap Plexyglass ?
Because Spookie (german member) has sent back his proj. to the US sailer because after few weeks, the "Glass"(if it is...) became "Milky" as he says...
Regards,
Frenchy.

Cheap glass. Try not to over heat them and they will be ok i guessl. Its not possible to change the reflector and glass as they are, unless you want it really bad and still i cant make sure. I say buy with a directional function. Screw the pjs, dont just buy them for looks, you will regret it. My opinion only.
