Will this key work on my 202?

hey guys, hopefully you can help, my current key is broken and none of the buttons work i have a 1998 c200 in australia, i was wondering if this key http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4642455208&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 will work with my car after getting reprogrammed by the stealership. thanks in advanced.

no, you need to order it from the dealer. it has to be coded to your VIN.

thanks very much, just trying to find a cheaper alternative, the dealer is trying to charge me $330 AUD for the key not including the laser cut part. any ideas ? :P

i heard that some mechanics can reprogram the key to work on the car...i have 2 friends wich did that in lebanon...(a w210 and a 202 both 99) they got a used key for 50 dollars, and paid the man 50 dollars and he reprogrammed the keys for them

yeh thats what i heard also, would anyone be able to tell me if that specific key will fit in the ignition?

yes that new style key WILL fit the ignition, i have the same ones!

did you get the second hand key and re - programmed??? i'm interested to do it as well .. since the dealership dont want to do the re - programming with the second hand key

not as yet, i just purchased them yesterday will definantly let you know in 2 weeks or so

you relise I dont think you can reprogram, and if its used, the metal key part of the key, wont fit your doors!

i dont care about the metal key since i still got my old one ... i really want just the transmitter ( remote ) because sometimes I have stand really2 close to the car to lock and unlock ...

with the new key, you still have to stand pretty close and the old style key dosent work in the new ones (diffrent size)
