Ok, so I'm doing a new project...installing dvd/mp3 unit reciever and a 7" lcd screen in the 98 c280.....
Problem I've got everyting hooked up fine, everything works, but the volume on it is really really low, even though the new deck is turned to max level, what could I be doing wrong???
Basically I just tapped into the wires of the old harness into the new deck, being the typical power and ground to turn on the unit, and then for the sound since my deck has RCA cables in the back for audio I used a speaker line to RCA converter (Left and Right adjustable gain) for the sound. I believe I am turning on the bose amp from the blue/white wire ((antannae trigger) of the car to the antannae wire of the unit cause when these wires are unplugged there is no sound at all.
Anyone have this problem before?
Is it the stock amp not turning on? If so, then which wire using this wiring code do I need to hook up to make the amp turn on? Or is it something else? I've read a one thread of a similar problem but doesnt disclose the information on how to solve...Is it okay to cu the speaker wires from the stock deck and convert it to RCA to be used into the new deck?

Thanks

Will post pics of my new setup once complete!!! :)

you could need a hi low converter.

its not the failure of the amp not being on to power the speakers? Can you be more indepth on what hi low converter is for?

do you have your stock bose amp powering your speakers, or is it an aftermarket amp?
If its aftermarket, your headunit may not be telling the amp to turn on VIA remote wire.
IF its stock bose amp, perhaps you have one of the wires on the harness switched?
Do a SEARCH for HI LOW converter, you should get a couple hits

running stock amp.....everything seems to be right....just very low volume...searched, nothing on problem...most high low converter used for too high distorted sound, mine is the opposite, not enough sound, will this help in this case?

bypass the stock amp and replace all speakers is the right thing to do lol
my stock amp isn't being powered, at least i don't think it is...the 2 orange wires that power the amp and changer....
i have no experience with line convertors, for rca output. Your HU does not have +/- for white, grey, purple, green? (FR,FL,RR,RL spks?)
If you want i might be able to troubleshoot it this sunday, shoot me an email or whatever if you haven't figured it out.
**Also, a bit unrelated, but if you used the VW harness, you have to swap the yellow and red wires (constant and ign.) cuz they are swapped on the VW harness....check the harness and check the diagram that you have posted to make sure.

You decided not to sell the car?

i don't have the bose stock system, but i recall reading the output and impedence of the stock bose system differs from that of typical aftermarker car audio (8ohm instead of 4ohm maybe?)
if everything is wired correctly, this would be my first suspicion. when i installed my eclipse head unit, i used the wiring harness adapter made for the car that best buy happened to have in stock. everything worked, but only after i had to switch the 12v constant wire (yellow) with the 12v ignition wire (red). the head unit would power off intermittently, and wouldn't save the stations which led me to change those two wires.
good luck.

If the amp wasn't being powered, I wouldn't expect to get any sound. At least that's the way my aftermarket amp works.
You are correct, the Bl/Wh does look to be the remote turn on lead for the bose amp. Is the antenna going up when you turn on the radio? (It looks like that lead goes to the antenna first). If you can find the amp connector, Pin 8 is the remote, pin 9 is the ground and pin 26 is the battery.
But I suspect you've wired it correctly. Your RCA outputs are low level outputs no? You mention a speaker line to rca converter. Is that not a HI/Low converter? If the Bose is looking for a line level input and only getting a low level input, then I think that might account for what you are seeing.
I don't have a Bose to know for sure what kind of input it is looking for.

are you actually going to use that LCD display for anything? lol..
reason I ask is because I never use my Pioneer LCD display to watch anything..
its just a fancy way to navagate through my long list of MP3 cds...
also has more room to display the song names and artist..
I can also navagate my Ipod via the touch screen..
or is this something like......
"I got more TV's here then where I live"
"and that dont make no sence but baby im the shit"

I really do like it but, isnt the screen a bit low? It looks astonishing but how about practicality? Also, Isnt it dangerous for your hand to accidentally hit the screen when reaching for the knob?
:hmmm:
i'm just shocked that someone would put a PYLE product in a benzo.
Does the HU have a vid. output?

LOL! Yeah, I was just inspired by the drop that's all. Your car does look very nice. I'm glad to hear you are thinking about keeping it. My car is now modded as much as it's going to get. I'm gonna have it till about Feb. 2007 and it's gone for a C 32!:D
