how hard is it to replace the L/R ball joints myself?

if your talking about the front lower ones I did mine in 30min both sides. Very easy job.

jack up car and remove the tires
remove the 2 bolts and use a hammer and pry bar to remove

sounds easy enough. did u need a front wheel alignment afterwards?

an alignment is not needed for replacing lower ball joints.

but i did do it just in case :-)
it was actually the outer tie rod. the job is done. I needed to get a ball joint seperator tool to pry that thing out.
So all you need to do is jack up the car, remove the wheels, remove those nuts and hammer out the ball joint, then fit the new ball joints and replace the nuts / wheel and it's done? I was reading something about having to jack up the lower control arm as well? something to do with the springs?
Also the ball joint doesn't look like it would be very hard to push / hammer out? Why do you need this clamp?
