OK, I searched the forums for wire colors & such with no luck(I searched for "radio wire colors" & stereo wire colors"). I have been installing systems for quite a few years but havent touched a MB unit since the early 90's.
I also normally do complete systems not just a HU. I really do not want to replace everything, because I am on a house building budget...so I gotta keep it on the inexpensive side.

I was going to have it installed locally, but I just cannot seem to either make the appt, or they cannot do it. So i'm going to do it myself.
I need this done asap, as the CD changer took a crap on me & I cannot listen to my CD's obviously(nor' can I get the magazine out of the changer..humph).

As for the radio. It is a Sony Xplode CDX-GT805DX. I also have the Bose' system(with the standard FM reception like we have in the states). I am also going to be running my RCA's & such for future upgrades. I have a 8" bass tube I may install but I dont know yet.

ANYWAY,
As I do not even have a manual for this car(Haynes, chilton's ect.) I am completely in the dark at the moment. I do not even know how to get the center cover off. Just it just pull off & have screws that mount the stereo to the dash?
I have read about the VW adapter.
Is there anything else I need before I go shopping? I already have the tools nessessary to do the job. Just not the the stereo accessories.
I dont even know speaker sizes at the moment..LOL

Well, i'm heading down to look at the car & see what I can figure out.
Thank You all for any light you can shed on this.
Tom

Speaker sizes are

1" tweeters on dash (2)
4.5" mid range in acoustic enclosures for the front doors (2)
3.5" mid range in rear doors (2)
6.5" free air, mid bass woofers in rear deck (2)

for the BOSE system.

I have a Sony HU and the Bose system in my car. By using the wiring diagram that Denlasoul posted and a wiring harness that was provided with my HU, I was able to cut the wires and connect them to the correct places... It works great! (an audio shop previously had told me that in order to get a new HU I would have to rip out the entire Bose system :p )

One thing I think I messed up on was the Bose amp (or sub?) connection. The HU wouldn't work at first, but after I connected that it worked fine. (An explanation came with the wiring harness)

Good luck! :)
