I was wondering how much of a difference would going from #1 padding to #4 padding make? Would 1/2 an inch be pretty close to accurate?
Also, Would it be ok if for example the rear consisted of one side being #2 padding and the other side being #4 padding or does both sides of the rear need to be the same and both sides of the front need to be the same?

Do First, Think later :D :D

Actually I don't it matters if you do different shims on different side, except for the fact that it will be uneven.

Going from a #2 to #4 pad in the rear is about a 12mm difference if I remember correctly, which is close to 1/2 inch.

On my car the passenger side is higher...but it must be that way for a reason, so I didn't mess with it.

oh btw, "Do first, think later" that is the philosophy i always use when fixing up a car. Cause if you think too much, your just going to think about what if this what if that and end up not doing what you want to do. Do first, think later lol

If its just the back then your lucky, b/c changing the rear pads are easy like 20 mins each side, so just buy a 1 of each pad and experiment. :D :D
