2000 C280 Sport Alarm

Since I'm new to the W202 scene, I had a question concerning the factory alarm systems on our cars.

Number one: was the alarm an option?
Number two: If my "Panic" button does nothing and when I sit in the car (locking the doors with the remote) and open it from the inside the alarm doesn't activate. How can I enable the alarm?

Sorry if its a lame question, but its just bothering me.

1. no the alarm was not an option.
2. the panic should make the horn sound.
as fas as the alarm going off when you arm it, i think it takes about 20-30sec to fully arm.
your manual should have more details;)

Don't feel too bad about your request.

I went into the dealer when the car was under warranty with the following complaints:

1) Cup-holder works intermittently, please fix
2) Panic button does not work, please fix

When I picked up my car the following appeared on my work order:

1) Examined cup holder and found quarter stuck inside. Removed quarter, cup holder now functions properly.

2) Panic button requires alarm system. Vehicle not equipped with alarm system.

Ok, so I guess my car doesn't have the alarm. Next time I have it in for service I will get them to check anyways. I just thought there might be some solid way of checking to see it it was in fact there just disabled.
