While lowering my car i noticed that one of my belt-driven engine accessories has oil dripping from a drainplug....at least thats what it looks like.

It' the accessory on the bottom, drivers side. So if you are standing in front of the car, it's on the bottom right.

Whatever it is, it looks to have a drainplug, where oil is collecting. It's also collecting along the oil pan, but that accessory looks to be the source of it.

What is it?

That would be the A/C compressor. The little 'drain plug' yuo see is actually a pressure blow-off valve in case it siezes. Your compressor may be leaking, but it's more likely p/s fluid leaking from the pump just above the compressor and dripping down onto the compressor. Either that or your valve cover is leaking, or you spilled some oil while filling the engine.

hmmm....it looks like oil in the plastic splash guard, but it doesn't stain DARK like oil on the ground.
When i washed it though, the water was rainbow-ish like oil.

It collects all around the bottom of the pan, and there is oil residue on the little ledge that forms the oil pan.

i will have to clean it up and keep my eye on it.

i called a service shop, and the guy told me that it is common for a plastic cover, held on by 2 screws, to leak. Apparently it's an o-ring of some sort, and it's below the valve cover.

Any ideas WTF he's talking about? My house is being painted right now so I can't get to my car (covered in plastic..... )
