    How to Paint muffler?

Just got my muffler in the mail yesterday (thanks Nokia!). The body of the muffler is stainless steel. I want to paint it black (just the body, I will mask off the tips). How do I go about doing this? Will paint adhere to the SS? Any suggestions?

scuff it with some 320 grit and just lay on some high temp black engine paint. you know what... before you scuff it up put on one of the decals on it. then scuff around it then paint it black. When dry remove the decal...... R@re Carlsson muffler!!! hahahahaha

    The simplest way...

    1. Install the muffler
    2. Clean the muffler with carb cleaner
    3. Let dry and cover the surrounding
    4. Engine on and ref up to heat up the muffler
    5. After 10 minutes or so - leave the engine idle
    6. Spray away with high heat paint

    Black paint does make difference!

CKlasse, If I had access to a lift like you, I would do just that... But I do not, so I will try to do as Nokia suggested. Thanks for the suggestion!!

can you paint the stock muffler tips black on a pre-updated w202? or the paint wont stick on, will the muffler heat cause the paint to crack?
