Cluster digits starting to go out on me

Here's the problem I am having -

A few months ago, one of my digits on my trip odometer went out on me, so I have a blank spot there. No real biggie - probably just the LCD failure or something. Then a week ago, one digit on my outside temperature readout gave out on me.

I'm not sure how to describe the problem, but it's kinda like when you drop your pager or cell phone a lot, and the digits start disappearing on you.

My question is - does replacing the cluster solve the problem (meaning - does the cluster include the odometer/temp readout).

I'm not sure I want to fork over the $$$ to fix this problem as I can live with it - just wanted to know how to go about fixing it should I decide to do so one day.

Unlike the older 201/124 etc where you can just remove the digital outside temp. The 202 is all electronics. If you have a buddy that works with IC buy one of those used ones off ebay and have him desolder the two and resolder the stuff back on.

What are you doing droping your cluster on the concrete anyways, its not a pull out that you need to take with you.

german ebay is one big JOKE...90% of the clusters offered there are either diesel or 240km/h max...but I'll keep my eyes open (I need cluster housings)...

Damn LU we almost got the same problem except mine is you can still read the digits during day time but at night time the lower part is totally blank. I've replaced all the bulbs on my cluster yet I still get the same result. :bored: It's really pissing me off!!!

I have a cluster housing. So let me know if you need that. Cuz the one I have now is the 240 max man if you can find a 300 max one that would be better.
