    Couple questions about cluster upgrade

I've been doing some reading about the subject, and if I understand everything correctly, a cluster such as the one pictured below from a W210 will be functional in my car (the gauges at least). My main concern is will the temp/clock/center message center displays be lit correctly? Or would I need a cluster from a W208?

From my reading I've heard that the pixel displays get messed up? And will the center message center show the odometer/trip odometer? To get these functions to work properly would I need to try and pick up a multifunction steering wheel?

Or would a cluster like this work with no problems?

    Thanks for any info

Nevermind I just found the answer to my question about the newer style W210 cluster... I would infact need a multifunction steering wheel and some rewiring...

Now if I can just find info about the pre-update W210 cluster.

    ive tried this already,

    from a W208 into my 97' C230.

everything worked fine, only thing is I had to plug it in at exactly 12:00 because the 208 cluster needs the multifunction steering wheel to adjust the clock, unless u plug it in exactly at 12.

the milage shown went the the 208 it was pulled from. other then that, everything was fine, I couldnt switch the screen from the milage though.

Thanks for the info... the pixels looked fine though?

I'm wondering about the second cluster too... the older one that came in 1996-1999 W210's.

If I got the updated cluster I'd want all the functions to work, and I don't think I really want to mess with putting a multifunction wheel in since I don't have the phone in there or command.

You have a '99, a fibre based system, so why wouldn't you want the COMAND (as it's 'simple' w/the '99 and up) and multi-function steering wheel? Contact MBenzNL if so.

Don't really feel like spending that kind of money....

Got quoted $1710 for command+nav disc and $1650 for cluster and steering wheel install.

I'm not really too concerned with having a multifunction cluster. I do like the look of the 96-99 W210 cluster though... just need to find out if it'd be compatible

There is an older style cluster on ebay right now from LKQ... has like 96K miles on it though. Isn't there a way you can get the mileage adjusted on your cluster if you get it switched out? I'm sure it consists of a trip to the dealer.
