    Removing the flex joint?

    Hey guys,

so I'm currently getting my exhaust changed to 2.5 inches from the cats back and from the headers to the cats.
My question.. Is it okay to remove the flex pipe if a muffler shop is swapping that piece out with a 2.5 inch straight pipe? Our engines are longitudinally mounted, so the stress from the engine would be less compared to a horizontally mounted engine. And if so, would it help free up flow or is it purely for the sound?

Keep the flexi joins at all cost!...The mercedes engines move alot it ALL directions, your system will fatigue and crack without it.

It will not impede flow(if its of reasonable quality).
