it should fit, but as for the srs airbag connection I dont know if its the same, and you will need the airbag with the steerign wheel too.
the W203 has steering wheel controls (multi-function controls) that will not work with your W202.
so everything will be for looks! if the airbag connections are the same.

anyone else know if the airbag connections are the same for W203 and W202 pre-updated?

I have asked a Teck at MBSC and he said they are differnt so it will set off your SRS dash light. I was after the W203 sport wheel which came out in 05' I think.

I really hate my steering wheel its huge and bulky looking.

even thought the connecters are differnt ... I mean how hard would it be to wire it anyway ? its very risky since you dont want a bag blown in your face.

Thats what I was affraid of.. if the connectors are different then I wouldnt bother with it. the connectors and wire length are somewhat important I think.. have a certain amount of resistance within them, so by changing the connector there might be a different resistance value after the fact maybe?

I have swapped my steering wheel with that from a SLK32, I have the AMG wheel with a non AMG airbag (the same airbag, but one says AMG on it!) the steerign wheel itself is much smaller in diameter and nice looking to boot!

The steering wheel is from an SLK32..

Not the best pic of the wheel.. but the only one I can find I have on hand.
the horn buttons are on the sides of the airbag. much sportier steering wheel with the extra bolstering.

The steering wheel i have is from an SLK32 (R170), but yes a w208 steering wheel should fit, along with W210. they should fit no problem too. just make certain the airbag connections are the same before you buy. and just to remind you, the newer W210 and W208 steering wheels have the multi-function buttons on them, they will not work on your W202.

A 208/210 MF wheel can be retrofitted to a 202. You can not use a 203 wheel.

    http://www.club202.com/forums/showth...&threadid=7225

Unfortunately I do not have photos of my install any longer but I can assure you that a 208/210 MF wheel swap does work. But it only makes sense to do with with a 208/210 MF cluster and 208/210 canbus comand.

If you take a photo of your connectors and post it I may be able to help you with the install.

Sorry for the bad cellphone photo. But as you can see the parts work together well in a 202.

Also you will need star diag to clear out any errors, adjust the gas gauge as well as set the correct mileage.

And remember to work with the battery unplug. And only plug it in when you have connected the SRS. If you plug in the battery before the SRS you will trip your SRS light which is only resettable via star diag.

edit: corrected information. Only a 208/210 MF wheel will work with a 202 whose production date is 1/1997 or later.

hey nokia can you please confirm that the W203 steering wheel / airbag will work with the W202 ?

I thought the multifunction swap used the W210 wheel ? something to do with 2 airbag connections to one ?

    thanks!

Sorry for the confusion. I just read the title and mashed it together with slammed post. Only a 208/210 MF wheel will work.

The 203 uses dual stage type airbag and will not work with the 202.

I've edited my post for the correction.

Sheezze even my own link talks about 210 wheel... I'm getting old.

Nokia is right, the W203 uses a dual stage airbag, which basically blowns up in your face twice with a little delay in between.

Now, I suppose you may connect one stage yet its not something that has been tested so it may not be as effective during an accident.
