    relocating HVAC control

trust me i have searched for it and have found no definite answer...but is there anything special to be done to move the ac/heat unit to where the tray slot is? how does it mount in? just take out the tray and slide it in? any major modding to do that? i have a fold up screen in dash and it pops up in front of the controls it has a tilt feature but i would like to have my ac controls down below as a convienence. plus looks nice! and if i do move it down any suggestions on what to put in the leftover gap? and no i cant do command...lol... and can the tray mount in the top slot?...thanks G

I didn't try it with the HVAC unit but i did have my head unit there for a few months. basically, for the head unit, as long as u cut the back on the tray off, u can slide the unit in and the rubber would produce very strong friction to keep the unit in place. no screws or anything necessary. the hvac unit is probably shorter in depth but the same method should suffice.

I was going to put an in-dash DVD player in my 202 also, but i didnt want it to cover the climate controls. if i were you i would try and fit the controls where the DVD player is and put the DVD player where the climate controls are instead of making a whole new place to put the climate controls, and you wouldnt be left with a big slot where the controls used to be.

i know already thought of that, but it is a 7" fold out and i measured and it would cover 3/4 of the ac vents...so thats a major no...so this is what i got so far..with some moding of the coin slot on the bottom i can fit the hvac, and i found on crutchfield.com a single din pocket that i made the guy check and make sure it was less than 5.25 "..which is the max depth for the top section, and the one on crutchfield is 5.19"...so cubby up top...modded hvac down low and fold out in the middle...any problems?
